From Renter To Home Owner...

After many years of renting I'll be moving into my very own home in a few
days.

The whole idea of home ownership had just seemed too overwhelming to
consider for a long time but finally I decided I was ready to take the
challenge.

I anticipated dealing with countless people, decisions as to
whose services to choose from, and many sleepless nights and chewed nails. However, none of that happened.

The whole process has been educational, minimally stressful and fun.
The reason is Helen.

From our first conversation when she referred me to Arnold Molder, a wonderful mortgage broker, through to a final visit to my new home prior to closing, Helen has been the key to my successful purchase.

Her years of experience in the Toronto market gave me confidence in
her negotiating abilities and I trusted her advice about various neighbourhoods and housing options.

She gave me contacts for the home inspection and recommended lawyers,
was always easy to reach and answered all my questions.

This is my first home and likely will not be my last so when the time comes
to move on I know that Helen, and the many other talented and experienced people with whom she works, are only a phone call away.

Thanks Helen!

Roberta'a Update May, 2007:

Sold my 'first home' and have just moved to wonderful Guildwood Village.. all accomplished with Helen's help.

After years of hemming and hawing, I finally decided it was time to stop paying rent.

I wasn't sure I would be able to find a bank that would help make that dream come true, on account of the enormous single-handed contributions I was making to the Canadian consumer economy, but Helen March pointed me in the direction of mortgage broker Arnold Molder, and between the two of them, I am becoming a first-time homeowner.

It wasn't an easy process.

First of all, Helen had to balance my extremely overinflated expectations with my very limited budget.

I didn't really know what I wanted -- bungalow? townhouse? condo? park bench?   -- so she graciously schlepped all over hell's half acre, only to learn I had a longer list of what I didn't want -- NO BAD 1970's DECOR!!!! -- than what I did want.

Then there was the issue of my family members' well-intended but not always so helpful advice, which made me fear that by buying a house I might well end up one day in financial ruin.

Being slightly more than border-line obsessive, finding a house I liked in a location I could live with at a price I could pay became a 24-hour preoccupation, not just for me, but for Helen, who never once complained, although I'm sure she was tempted on many an occasion.

Eventually -- after two weeks, which I'm told is way shorter than usual -- I
found a house I absolutely fell in love with.
Helen steered me through the
cold feet one gets when the negotiations get hot, and I know it was the best decision I've made since I bought those black leather boots online last year.

She's still fielding my daily calls, and I highly recommend her to anyone who wants to go through this process without feeling completely alone and overwhelmed.

As Lisa and Terry said:

Helen March was our "real estate" agent but was actually a lady who must have a crystal ball and a sixth sense.

Helen was very aware of what we were looking for long before we realized it ourselves.

Helen always presents herself in a professional manner with lots of real estate savvy and it's always tempered with good humour and patience.

Goodness knows it had to be - our nerves were raw wondering if we were going to sell our house in sufficient time to settle down and enjoy the one we had bought.

Helen was extremely confident, reassuring us that, " of course it will sell, we have lots of time" and you know what? - she was right of course.

We love the house that Helen helped us find and we neither of us could envision living anywhere but here.

Helen worked very hard to ensure that we had the information we needed to make the right choice about a house - she pointed out railroad tracks, noisy trains in the night (ugh), faults in an otherwise beautiful house (we were tempted) while letting us make our own decisions.

It is a shame that Helen helped us find this house because we will likely never use her professional services again - we love it too much to ever think about moving again. We have found a home that we will both be happy to retire in!

We were very happy with Helen's services and would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking to buy or sell a home.
